The data-edit widgets (tintegeredit, tstringedit, trealedit...) keep their data in value, of the widget's native type. text is the raw, not yet validated text of the embedded inplace editor, updated on every keystroke; it is converted to value by checkvalue (triggered for example by pressing Enter), which can be intercepted and rejected or modified through the onsetvalue/oncheckvalue events — ondataentered fires afterwards, once the new value has actually been accepted. To set a widget's value from code, assign value, not text: the latter is only meant to reflect (or drive) what the user is currently typing.
